Parent Volunteer Program
Volunteers are an important part of our school. They allow the school to provide opportunities that might otherwise not be possible due to lack of funds and resources. The Volunteer Program allows individuals an opportunity to provide service hours to the school.
Each family is required to complete 40 service hours per school year. A volunteer record form is submitted to the office as service hours are completed, and tracked in the school office. The following are some of the areas in which you may volunteer to complete your hours. Please feel free to contact the school office for a complete list (623)931-7288.
Service Areas On Campus:
Lunch Service: Volunteers are needed to set, supervise, serve and clean up during the lunch period. All lunchroom volunteers are required to have a food handler's card on file. The lunch program coordinator will meet with all volunteers.
SCRIP: Scrip is a major fund-raiser for OLPH. "Scrip" is gift cards for restaurants, movies, and major stores throughout the valley. Parents are needed to help with the sale and distribution of scrip before and after school.
After School Sports Program: Qualified coaches are needed for the after school sports program. It is our intent to provide students with the basic skills of the games in order to learn sportsmanship, be a part of a team effort, and learn lifelong leisure activities. Coaches are required to have CPR and Fingerprint Clearance Cards. Contact the school for a list of sports offered at OLPH.
Art Masterpiece Program: Volunteers who enjoy art are encouraged to spend an hour each month in the classroom teaching the students about famous works of art and the artists that create them. Training will be provided. There is some preparation time required for this position.
Homeroom Parent: This parent is responsible for scheduling parent volunteers for classroom and school events and activities: field trips, parties, special projects, special events, etc. Two parents per classroom are the ideal in order to have continuous communication with the teacher. There is a meeting in August for training.
Fundraising Opportunities
Fall Festival Committee: It is asked that at least 12 of the required 40 service hours be completed on Festival Planning and the weekend of the event. All families are encouraged to get involved with the Fall Festival and meet other school families. Volunteers are needed to head and work on the various committees. Meetings are held regularly throughout the planning period prior to the event, which is held in October.
Spring Fundraiser-Dinner/Auction: Volunteers are needed to head and work on the various committees associated with the dinner and auction fundraiser. Assistance is necessary to secure prizes for the raffle and auction and help with general planning of the event.
Jog-a-Thon: Annual event to help raise funds for the athletic department. Volunteers are needed to help organize the event, promote the event, set up and clean up the event. For more information on how you can become involved in this fundraiser, contact the school office.
Golf Tournament: You don't have to be a golf enthusiast to join the committee! The golf committee needs volunteers to solicit corporate sponsorships, donations for raffles, assist with registration materials and creative planning. Other committees include: publicity, awards and venue coordination.
